Class Description:
Follow a gentle flow of yoga poses designed to improve flexibility, balance and strength. This foundational class is great for all levels – from beginners to experienced yogis, with many modifications offered to make poses easier or more challenging. After warming up and moving through a gentle series of poses, we’ll wind down with breathing exercises, a few relaxing restorative yoga poses and close with a guided meditation session. If you’ve been told you should try yoga or meditation, but aren’t sure how to get started — this class is for you. Everyone’s first class with Hannah is always free. Bring a friend and introduce them to the many benefits of yoga! Classes are always free for military veterans, trauma survivors or anyone in need.
Why I’m into yoga:
Yoga is a key part of my life, giving me many mind, body and soul benefits. I practice yoga almost daily and have taught on and off for almost a decade. Yoga keeps me calm, able to balance my many activities and the physical practice is one of my favorite fitness activities now, along with walking, kayaking and cross country skiing.
My offical yoga bio:
Hannah Smalltree, 200H RYT, brings a warm, down to earth attitude to her yoga classes, creating an inviting, relaxing environment for both new yogis and experienced practitioners. Whatever your mood, background and goals are, Hannah’s mellow voice and creative class sequences create a unique venue to practice your own yoga in your own way. Hannah has a special interest in gentle and restorative yoga practices, particularly in how yoga can benefit trauma sufferers, particularly veterans, amputees and domestic violence survivors. Hannah became a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) in general hatha yoga techniques through Anahata Integrated Teacher Training in Newbury, led by the amazing and talented Chris Morton and Pam Britton. She has taught around the area for years, leading popular classes at the Fitness Factory in Newburyport, Harborside Fitness and the Portsmouth Athletic Club, both in Portsmouth, NH. Practicing for over a decade, and teaching since 2001, Hannah has trained in many styles, including hatha, YogaWarriors (focused on veterans and trauma survivors), O2 Yoga (astanga hybrid), YogaFit (“yoga for the gym”) and countless workshops. Come explore your own yoga with Hannah!
